A Look Back at 2019 with Eyesight Productions

This year has been tumultuous to say the least. Right at the end of 2018 I released a video with a mission statement, that 2019 would be the year of Eyesight Animation. A subsidiary of Eyesight Productions with the sole intention to build a portfolio of stop-motion animated films. As you can tell in the blogs throughout the year, I definitely did do my research. However, what I wasn’t prepared for was how time-consuming this would become. So let’s look at my first success of the year first.

Oink! is officially my second short film, and the concept behind it was so simple that not a lot of preparation was needed. Thanks to my resourcefulness and my research I was able to pull out a sweet and loving film about a piglet who just wants some attention. I have all of you, my viewers, to thank for its success. It was well-received by a small group of you who support both me and my website.

Sadly, Poof and the Big Blue Sky didn’t come to fruition after a few failed attempts. It wasn’t as ambitious as Awake was going to be, but it wasn’t simple enough either for me to pull it off all by myself. It isn’t considered a failure as I would love to come back to this project in the future at some stage. The same goes for Awake, which is a concept I will love to come back to in time, after gaining more experience and expertise in the genre. So the year of Eyesight Animation comes to an end.

One out of three films is still a great achievement, and I should not forget The Girl in the Café which came out on YouTube earlier this year. That film is such a great accomplishment for me personally, as it was my first ever project to see from start to finish. It continues to hold strong and I will look at that while looking ahead to the year to come.

Thank you for reading today’s blog, and thank you for an amazing 2019 too!

Alex Murray, the Head of Eyesight Productions
