CONCEPT
It’s always the quiet ones you have to watch out for. That simple statement was the birthplace for “Zen”. What dark thoughts lie within the mind of someone who is considered a nice person? After all, we all have dark thoughts at least once in our lives. The ambigious nature of this concept allowed Alex Murray to experiment with the film with little expostion or dialogue, leaving the audience to decipher the mystery of Milo.

CHARACTERS
MILO
Harrison Wright plays Milo, a troubled young boy with some pretty dark thoughts inside his head. Milo internalises his emotions and feelings which makes him come across as shy and closed off towards Liv. The relationship between Milo and Liv is a mystery, but it appears it might not be as perfect as we are lead to believe.
LIV
Millie Whitcher plays Liv, Milo’s girlfriend. Liv is a dedicated partner towards Milo. She’s sweet, trusted and loyal towards him. This however could be her downfall. She’s supportive, but at what cost? Does she really know Milo? With a lot of questions about her role in their relationship, “Zen” takes an ambigious look at who Liv really is.
PRODUCTION
The idea for “Zen” was first conceived in late 2019. Pre-Production had started in early 2020 with a script in place and a key cast member in place, Harrison Wright. However, the script for “Obsessiveness” came along which de-railed plans for “Zen”. Then the unfortunate happened, the global COVID-19 pandemic. This placed the project on hiatus until further notice. Throughout 2020 and early 2021, the project moved slowly with planning in place ready for a Summer 2021 production start date.
Casting and filming for “Zen” took place over July and August of 2021. Safety measures were taken due to the ongoing pandemic and a small crew helped to film the project. Post-Production was completed in the following months for a late December release date.
